ANONIMO (Italian PRIN Programme)

The project aims at analyzing technological, social and legal aspects of privacy protection in data analysis, and it aims at studying and developing computational tools and methods that are capable, in a native way, to guarantee the protection of privacy in the management and analysis (knowledge extraction) of large databases, either centralized or distributed, also with reference to mobility data, situated in space and time, for location-based applications. The development of suitable protocols for trustable interactions in social networks is another crucial activity in the project. The research activities will be carried on with a specific attention to the privacy and anonymity aspects, as viewed from a legal and ethic perspective. The main objective of the project is to favor a cross fertilization between the legal and the computational viewpoints.

QUATRO Plus (EU SIP Project 2006-211001)

This project starts from the results of the QUATRO project in order to build a more extended platform for Web quality assurance, based on the specifications released by the POWDER WG, and including social networking and collaborative rating of Web resources and content/quality labels released by third-parties.

POWDER (W3C Working Group)

The POWDER Working Group aims at developing a mechanism through which structured metadata (“Description Resources”) can be authenticated and applied to groups of Web resources.

QUATRO (EU SIAP Project 2003QL01)

The project aims at providing a common platform for quality labels making it possible for the many existing labelling schemes to be brought together through a single, coherent approach without affecting an individual scheme's assessment criteria or independence. The platform will support i) easy, flexible routes for content providers to add quality labels to their sites that are both ‘visible’ to humans and machines, ii) automatic validation of quality labels against a label operator's database, and iii) real-time probabilistic label verification. As well, the proposed platform will have direct applicability to content descriptions, classification and so-called “discovery metadata.”

DELOS (EU IST Network of Excellence G038-507618)

The DELOS network intends to conduct a joint program of activities aimed at integrating and coordinating the ongoing research activities of the major European teams working in digital library (DL) related areas with the goal of developing the next generation DL technologies. The objective is to a) define unifying and comprehensive theories and frameworks over the life-cycle of DL information, and b) build interoperable multimodal/multilingual services and integrated content management ranging from the personal to the global for the special and the general population. The Network aims at developing generic DL technology to be incorporated into industrial-strength DL Management Systems, offering advanced functionality through reliable and extensible services.

DHX (EU IST Project 2001-33476)

The project aims to establish a networked virtual reality infrastructure and content development environment for museums and cyber theatres, for mutual exchange of digital cultural and natural heritage. European and Asian partners are participating for transcontinental shared immersive experience in a global scale using high-bandwidth trans Euro-Asian networks.

EUFORBIA (EU IAP Project 26505)

This project aims to demonstrate the possibility of using an unbiased and semantic-rich approach for executing an accurate (rating and) filtering of Internet documents. The principal objective of this project is to contribute to the production and use of new generations of Internet filtering systems, more powerful and flexible than the existing ones, and easier to adapt to cultural, political or religious differences.
